One of our newest Innovation Hub partners — Space Operations Command (SpOC) S35F Combat Force Enhancements (CFE) Division — has been hard at work in the facility working to improve combat credibility by delivering rapid, impactful, and sustainable digital solutions to operators’ pain points by building digitally fluent Guardians. Their team recently took the time to tell us what they have been up to, explained where they would like to go from here, and shared their praise for the Innovation Hub.
SpOC S35F has expressed extreme satisfaction with the Innovation Hub space, stating that it mitigates the natural diffusion of effort that often accompanies distributed innovation initiatives. “By serving as a physical and conceptual touchpoint, it has proven instrumental in synchronizing intent and execution across bureaucratic and organizational boundaries.” They state that continued presence at the IHub is critical to maintain momentum, particularly for efforts that cut across functional lines of effort and command authorities. Without this shared space, coordination would regress into asynchronous, fragmented interactions with limited strategic coherence.
The Combat Force Enhancement team is exploring ways to make better use of the Innovation Hub for future efforts. They are looking to expand IHub-based sessions to include more international liaison engagements, ensuring foreign partner equities are appropriately woven into commercial strategy execution. SpOC S35F is exploring options to stand up rotating “cross-command commercial integration days” within the IHub to normalize collaboration between innovation hubs, operational commands, and acquisition centers. They believe that there are great opportunities to use the IHub to catalyze early-stage planning for capability integration and alignment under the Commercial Space Integration Strategy. “The IHub is not just a workspace—it is an integration accelerator. Its value lies in its ability to cut through organizational stovepipes and foster deliberate synchronization, especially where strategic guidance meets operational and commercial execution. Continued and purposeful utilization of this space is essential for aligning efforts across SpOC, SSC, and the broader defense innovation community.”
