Join Dan Lorenc, co-founder and CEO of Chainguard, for this month’s WISDOM Session—an exploration into the future of software supply chain security in defense. Dan leads Chainguard, a company dedicated to making open source
software trustworthy by default, and his leadership has helped shape key tools and standards like Tekton, Sigstore, and SLSA that define today’s cybersecurity landscape. He’s also an active contributor to governance and best
practices across CNCF and OpenSSF communities.
This session will focus on what software supply chain security means in practice for the DoD. Key topics include the role of SBOMs, the technical and geopolitical challenges of foreign influence, and the growing need for
verifiable, tamper-resistant build systems. Drawing on lessons from both industry and open source communities, the discussion will explore how to shift open source software from a liability to a defensible asset.

Software Bill of Materials are more than just a vulnerability analysis tool. Almost everyone associated with developing, distributing, buying, and deploying a software product will have an interest and a stake in SBOMs. In this session we will explore the scope and stakeholders of SBOMs beyond the traditional cybersecurity role.
Please join Brian DeLong in welcoming Alexander Wright for the BC/CTO team’s next wisdom session from 12-1pm. Alexander is an Engineering Specialist at the Aerospace Corporation. Graduating from Utah State University in 2014
with a degree in Computer Science, he has worked on Air Force and Space Force weapon systems for over eleven years with seven years dedicated to issues regarding software supply chain risk management.
